This charming route, commencing from the heart of Milan, specifically the Darsena, and leading to Lake Maggiore along a straightforward path primarily consisting of bike lanes, enjoys significant popularity.
Given its relatively extended length, the journey requires a good level of endurance. However, the near absence of significant elevation changes and the presence of a long, well-maintained bike path make this route highly accessible.
Charming small villages, bars, and trattorias are encountered along the way. Returning to Milan is exceptionally convenient by taking the train from Sesto Calende.
About the trail
As the route is predominantly composed of bike lanes, it’s crucial for cyclists to remain vigilant and considerate of each other. I’ve witnessed an incident where someone fell into the canal.
