Discover the allure of Venini hut amidst cloudy skies

It wasn’t exactly a sunny day when we decided to embark on this hiking adventure. However, we were confident that it wouldn’t rain despite the looming clouds, as the ever-reliable Swiss weather forecast assured us.

In fact, despite the overcast sky and a few drops of water (so few that they couldn’t be defined as rain), we didn’t encounter any significant issues during our hike.

Anyway, I felt comfortable because, apart from the initial stretch, I had previously explored this area as part of a slightly more demanding circuit that encompassed four nearby peaks: Crocione, Tremezzo, Galbiga, and Lenno Mount.

From Ponna Superiore to Venini hut

We parked our car at the Ponna Superiore parking lot, and from there, we opted for a less-traveled but fairly accessible and well-marked trail for our ascent. The path was mostly gently sloping, allowing us to maintain a fairly brisk pace. Only as we approached Mount Lenno did the elevation increase, providing that extra sense of accomplishment that justified our delightful lunch at the Venini mountain refuge.

On the return journey, we decided to explore the alternative route along a dirt road. While admittedly less scenic than the ascent, it provided a welcome change of scenery and allowed us to complete a loop.
