This time, we ascended to the summit of Mount Galbiga via the trail that passes through Gravona. The path is adorned with charming cabins overlooking the lakes, enticing anyone to spend a few days immersed in nature.
Upon reaching the Boffalora refuge, we ascended towards the Venini refuge (closed at that time) before reaching the pinnacle of this hike, the summit of Mount Galbiga.
From this vantage point, a unique panorama unfolds, simultaneously embracing Lake Como and Lake Lugano. For the descent, we initially followed the ridge before descending towards the Church of San Benedetto in Val Perlana. From there, we finally embarked on the last segment that led us back to the car park.
About the trail
The trail is mostly well-marked and visible, yet the ascent is quite challenging, with some sections featuring a significant incline requiring excellent physical fitness. The descent towards the Church of San Benedetto in Val Perlana is precarious. It involves an extremely narrow path that, in some cases, is covered by foliage. A steady step and some experience are necessary to navigate this passage safely.
