A half-day off spent in the best possible way

This weekend, the weather forecast wasn’t promising, and there was a chance I wouldn’t be able to go hiking in the mountains for another week.

Fortunately, I had a relatively manageable Friday morning, so I seized the opportunity and took a half-day off. I woke up at dawn and headed to the starting point of a familiar hiking trail, starting from Colma di Sormano and leading to the summit of Monte San Primo.

My initial plan was to follow the main route leading to the top. However, I realized too late that I had mistakenly entered “Parco San Primo” into the map. As it turned out, this was a happy accident. I ended up taking a different circular route that brought me past Rifugio Martina, a spot I had never encountered before.

The day was simply delightful. By lunchtime, I was back home, recharged and ready to tackle the afternoon’s work.

About the trail

The trail is technically simple, with only the ascent from Rifugio Martina to the summit requiring good physical fitness and some caution due to potential ice. Overall, it is a route that does not demand extensive experience or a particularly high level of athletic ability.
