Along the Val di Mello path

It seems that Val di Mello is one of the most beautiful valleys in Italy, or at least that’s what we had always read in online reviews. So, we decided to dedicate a day to a very gentle walk along the valley.

Indeed, the trail is suitable for everyone, and in our case, it led us to a scenic viewpoint from which we could turn around and take in the entire valley we had just traversed.

The path follows a stream on both sides, and to make the walk more interesting, we decided to hike along both trails, creating a sort of narrow loop.

The hike was stunning, and its ease attracts a good number of visitors. Many people enjoy a leisurely stroll along the trail, and there are several refuges and rest areas where entire families spend their Sundays.

Having the memory of seeing this same valley from above, during our hike on the Sentiero Roma, added an extra layer of nostalgia and emotion.

One particularly interesting aspect is the presence of numerous climbers scaling the massive boulders that tumbled down the mountainsides millennia ago. Today, they serve as a playground for climbing enthusiasts.

Trail notes

The trail is mostly very easy, with a gentle incline. Only near the end does the path start to climb, but a minimal level of fitness is all that’s needed to proceed without difficulty.

Be careful to follow the trail closely. At one point, we found ourselves off the path, climbing a steep slope, after following a pair of hikers who had taken an incorrect route. After backtracking, the main trail reappeared and was as clear and comfortable as before.
