This fascinating hiking trail allows you to reach four peaks overlooking Lake Como via technically undemanding paths that intersect or completely overlap with old military roads.
We started from Lenno, and right in this initial stretch, we ascended most of the elevation gain up to Mount Crocione. At this point, the trail remains relatively high, and the elevation becomes less challenging.
We easily reached Mount Tremezzo and then, after passing the Venini refuge, we reached the summit of Mount Galbiga. From there, we traversed to the top of Mount Lenno before embarking on the descent that led us back to our cars after a long loop.
It’s worth noting that the presence of the military roads allows some SUVs and motorcyclists to approach the peaks by motorized means. On better days, you may encounter a high number of people, especially around the Venini refuge. The fact that not all of these visitors are hikers might slightly diminish the mountain’s poetic atmosphere, depending on your sensitivity to such matters.
