Bergamo is one of the most significant cities in Lombardy, and its historic center, known as “Bergamo Alta,” is extraordinary. Moreover, its close proximity to Milan makes it a perfect destination for a moderately challenging bike ride. Just be cautious when entering the city: you may encounter heavy traffic, which could slightly diminish the charm.
About the trail
Much of the route follows the cycle path, at least until the end of the Martesana Canal, where it intersects with the Adda River. Afterward, the journey is mostly on secondary roads with light traffic. Overall, it’s a relatively straightforward route with no significant complications, also in terms of distance and elevation.
