I have hiked this trail from Brunate many times, and each time, I always find great satisfaction. We started from Como, where we took the cable car that brought us to the starting point of our excursion within minutes.
This time, as there were beginners in the group, we decided not to go all the way to the summit of Mount Palanzone and settled for concluding our uphill hike at Mount Bolettone.
What made this trip unique was our decision not to return along the same trail but to descend via a direct path towards the lake, all the way to the town of Faggeto Lario, from which we could catch a boat back to Como, our starting point. However, this option was no longer available as the boat service had been suspended a few days before due to the start of the winter season. The return by bus was not equally satisfying, but that’s how it went this time.
About the trail
The trail is very easy and suitable for novice hikers. The descent can be a bit challenging, especially if the equipment is not suitable, particularly shoes.
